Deadly Tesla collision causes traffic congestion

A driver who reportedly caused a hit-and-run incident led to a collision and fire on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County just after 11:20 a.m. on Friday, as documented by the California Highway Patrol traffic incident log. A tragic crash occurred on Highway 17 northbound near Vine Hill Road, resulting in a fatality. According to the information noted, a Tesla vehicle was hit by another vehicle, causing the Tesla to crash into a guardrail and tree, subsequently igniting in flames as captured in videos. Unfortunately, emergency responders were unable to access the victim's vehicle due to the intense blaze. Multiple witnesses called 911 to report reckless driving behaviors leading up to the crash. The CHP had to close off all lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions, redirecting traffic.
