Deadly Petrolia collision results in one fatality and another person injured
A fatal two-car collision occurred in Petrolia, resulting in one person dead and another seriously injured. The accident took place on August 2 at the intersection of West Benton Street and South Prairie Avenue at 11:45 pm. Brittany Michelle Bowman, 36, from Wichita Falls, lost her life in the crash, while Marc Stephen Deffenbaugh, 47, from Abilene, sustained critical injuries and was taken to United Regional for treatment. Both drivers were not wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Following the incident, Highway 79 was briefly closed from south of Highway 148 to the north side of Jones Street but has since reopened. The Texas Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support Brittany's family.
