Deadly head-on crash in Cherokee County results in one fatality
A fatal head-on collision occurred in Cherokee County on Thursday morning. The incident took place on Highway 160 near Northwest 50th Street west of Columbus. A silver Nissan Xterra driven by Randy Kirkpatrick attempted to pass two semis while traveling eastbound on Highway 160 and collided head-on with a Chevrolet pickup driven by Alan Christmas, who unfortunately did not survive. Kirkpatrick sustained major injuries and was transported to the hospital. The deceased driver's next-of-kin has been informed of this tragic event.
