Deadly head-on collision on I-294 causes northbound traffic delay
A tragic collision on the Tri-State Tollway caused the closure of all northbound lanes early Wednesday morning just before rush hour. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on the northbound lanes of I-294 near milepost 46 in Glenview, reported by Illinois State Police. A vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction, southbound in the northbound lanes, and collided head-on with another car. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. The individuals in the second vehicle, driver and passenger, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries, with their current conditions unknown.
