Deadly desert crash in San Bernardino County; 4 victims, 3 ejected

A tragic single-vehicle rollover crash in the San Bernardino County desert claimed the lives of four individuals on Sunday morning, as reported by KTLA. The incident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. on the I-40 Freeway near mile marker 30, according to a spokesperson from the California Highway Patrol in Barstow. Their preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle, traveling westbound, lost control and veered off the road for unknown reasons, leading to a series of rollovers in the desert. The crash resulted in the immediate deaths of three passengers who were ejected from the vehicle, while a fourth individual passed away at the scene shortly thereafter. Following the accident, responders had to address a patient who was trapped in the overturned vehicle. Westbound lanes were temporarily closed until 8:48 a.m. Afterwards, one lane was reopened, but by 2:30 p.m., CHP Barstow alerted drivers on social media that one lane remained closed after multiple crashes. The CHP emphasized the importance of being cautious around emergency vehicles in active situations. As investigations continue, identities of the victims and further details are pending disclosure by officials.
