Deadly crash on Cook County I-57 closes southbound lanes - Illinois State Police
Early Sunday morning, a fatal accident on Interstate 57 near Vollmer Road in Country Club Hills resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes for several hours. According to Illinois State Police, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. when a vehicle occupant was struck by another car after exiting their vehicle following the crash. One person was killed and another was hospitalized. The southbound lanes of I-57 were reopened by 10 a.m. after being closed at I-80, as ISP continues to investigate the crash. The timeline for reopening the lanes and ramp remains uncertain.
