Deadly crash linked to vehicle evading traffic stop in Wyoming County

An investigation is currently underway following a fatal crash on Route 20A at the border of Orangeville and Warsaw Town, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Wyoming County Sheriff's Office reported that a Warsaw police officer alerted dispatchers just before 8:30 a.m. on Friday about a vehicle that had reportedly evaded a traffic stop at a high speed. The vehicle fled up West Buffalo Street and shortly after, Warsaw police discovered two vehicles had collided head-on on Route 20A at the border between Orangeville and Warsaw Town. The fleeing vehicle caught fire and ended up down an embankment, while the other vehicle was stopped in the road. Sadly, a passenger in the stationary vehicle was found deceased, while the driver remains in stable condition at ECMC. Law enforcement and bystanders managed to rescue the driver of the fleeing vehicle from the burning wreckage, but the driver was pronounced dead later at Wyoming County Community Hospital. Names of the individuals involved have not yet been disclosed. Investigators revealed that the fleeing vehicle had been reported stolen from Nassau County prior to the incident.
