Deadly collision during police pursuit on St. Cloud State campus
A high-speed pursuit on the campus of St. Cloud State University resulted in a fatal crash after police attempted to stop a speeding driver late Tuesday night. The driver, a 41-year-old man, was observed traveling at 62 mph in a 30 mph zone near University Drive. The pursuit ensued across the University Bridge and through campus limits until the driver crashed into a parked truck and light pole. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 53-year-old man in the parked truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating the reasons for the driver fleeing, noting that his license had been revoked due to previous driving violations.
