Deadly car crash leaves 2 dead, 4 wounded on Omaha interstate
Two individuals lost their lives and four others were injured in a severe car crash on an Omaha interstate early Friday. The incident occurred on I-480 close to 10th Street at around 2:20 a.m. According to accounts from KETV NewsWatch 7's team who passed by the site, it involved two vehicles with indications that one was traveling in the wrong direction on the I-480 bridge just before the accident. The vehicles collided head-on and then caught fire from the impact. Emergency services described one person as being trapped in the wreckage. Omaha Police Department confirmed the two fatalities out of the six individuals involved, while the other four were transported to Nebraska Medicine - three with critical injuries and one with serious injuries. To manage the situation, authorities have closed off westbound lanes and urge drivers to steer clear of the area. Travelers on westbound I-480 across the Missouri River must exit at Dodge Street.
