Deadly accident shuts down westbound 101 Freeway in North Hollywood segment
A tragic accident involving a box truck resulted in the closure of all lanes on the westbound 101 Freeway in North Hollywood during the early hours of Tuesday morning. The crash, which involved the box truck and two other vehicles, occurred near North Tujunga Avenue around 2:20 a.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, one fatality was confirmed, with no additional information on injuries provided. Footage from the scene indicated the box truck had stopped near the divider, and emergency responders were attending to the situation, with a vehicle in the right lane with its hazard lights flashing. A SigAlert was issued at 3:35 a.m., shutting down all westbound lanes at Tujunga Avenue, including the westbound 134 Freeway transition to the westbound 101 Freeway. The closures were anticipated to last until approximately 6:30 a.m., while the cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
