Deadly Accident on SR-36, Close to North Shore Campground in Plumas County

Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident on State Route 36 near North Shore Campground in Plumas County, California. The incident occurred early Friday morning when a silver Lexus SUV veered off the road, hitting several milepost markers before colliding with a dirt embankment and damaging about 50 feet of barbed-wire fencing. Both occupants were found deceased at the scene by responding California Highway Patrol officers. Investigators from the CHP and Plumas County Sheriff’s Office conducted measurements and collected evidence at the site. Lake Almanor Towing crews later removed the vehicle, as the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The victims' identities have not been released pending notification of their next of kin.
