Deadly accident on LA Highway 561 takes the life of a female resident of Columbia
A tragic accident on Louisiana Highway 561 resulted in the death of a Columbia woman on Wednesday evening. According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, the collision occurred around 6:00 PM on September 17, 2025, near Duchesne Road, involving a 2021 Chevrolet Trail Blazer and a 2015 Kenworth commercial truck. Initial investigations suggest that the Trail Blazer, driven by 35-year-old Jana Holman, crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the truck. Unfortunately, Holman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and passed away at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth, who was properly restrained, was unhurt. Authorities suspect impairment as a potential factor in the crash and have collected toxicology samples for analysis as the investigation progresses. Louisiana State Police are reminding all drivers that impaired driving can have severe consequences, affecting vision, perception, motor skills, and reaction times while behind the wheel. They urge motorists to plan ahead, arrange for sober drivers, and avoid driving under the influence to prevent tragic accidents like this one.
