Deadly Accident on I-80 Freeway in Soda Springs, Nevada County
A rollover crash on Interstate 80 near Soda Springs tragically resulted in one fatality early Thursday. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision occurred around 7:06 a.m. and involved multiple vehicles, with one vehicle overturned and lodged between two trees. Emergency responders, including fire crews, paramedics, and Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies, were dispatched to the scene. Due to the severity of the crash, additional units were requested by CAL FIRE, and lanes were closed for several hours for investigation and vehicle recovery. Several tow companies assisted with the recovery efforts. The deceased individual's identity has not been disclosed as next-of-kin notification is pending.
