Deadly accident on I-15 southbound, close to Mesquite
The southbound lanes of I-15, located approximately 11 miles south of Mesquite, have been shut down following a fatal accident on Thursday morning at mile marker 106. The Nevada State Police are re-routing vehicles off the highway onto the State Route 170 (Exit 112) off-ramp to enable them to turn around and head back to Mesquite. Trooper Shawn Haggstrom reported that the collision involved a commercial truck and a car, resulting in the tragic death of a car passenger at the scene, while another passenger was airlifted to a nearby hospital. This incident has occurred near Mesquite, situated around 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, affecting travelers heading from that region to Las Vegas. Authorities have not specified how long the lanes will remain closed.
