Deadly accident on Highway 5 takes life of man from Douglas County
A tragic incident occurred on Highway 5 in Wright County, Missouri, resulting in the death of an 84-year-old Ava man following a two-vehicle crash on November 15. The crash involved a Kawasaki Mule driven by the elderly man with a 63-year-old woman from Mansfield as a passenger, and a 2005 Chrysler 300 operated by a 66-year-old Mansfield woman. The collision happened when both vehicles were heading north on Highway 5 and the elderly man attempted a left turn, while the other driver was trying to pass another vehicle and rear-ended the UTV. The elderly man was declared deceased by the Wright County Coroner, while the other occupants suffered serious and minor injuries. Family members have been notified, and this marks the 30th fatality for Troop G in 2025, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
