Tragically, a fatal collision occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning on the 210 Freeway in the Sunland area of Los Angeles, resulting in one person losing their life. The incident involved a Toyota Prius rear-ending a big rig and becoming trapped under the trailer. The California Highway Patrol reported that the Prius driver was confirmed dead at the scene. The big rig was carrying over 3 million pounds of produce at the time. Following the crash, a SigAlert was issued and two lanes were closed for investigation and cleanup, leading to significant traffic congestion during the morning commute. Crews worked to clear spilled oil from the right shoulder of the freeway. The lanes reopened at 6:45 a.m., but details regarding injuries to the semi-truck driver and the cause of the crash are still being investigated.
