Dead and injured in Cobb County crash
The Cobb County police are currently looking into a tragic single-vehicle accident that resulted in the loss of a Marietta man's life early Saturday morning. The incident took place at approximately 2:47 a.m. on Blackwell Road, just west of Autumn Ridge Parkway. According to the Cobb County Police Department's Special Operations S.T.E.P. Unit, a 2023 Subaru WRX driven by Cody Chitwood, 29, went off the road for reasons unknown. The vehicle crashed through a wooden fence and ended up between two trees after hitting a vegetated embankment. Sadly, Chitwood was declared deceased at the site by the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office. The only passenger in the car, Travis Goode, 29, from Willacoochee, sustained minor injuries.
