Dayton woman sentenced to over 15 years for deadly collision following pursuit

In a recent Dayton case, Melissa Hutchins has been sentenced to a prison term of 15 to 20-and-a-half years after being found guilty of charges related to a fatal crash. Hutchins was apprehended by law enforcement after fleeing from a traffic stop, leading to a high-speed chase on I-75 southbound that tragically ended in a collision resulting in the death of Colby Ross. Prosecutor Mat Heck emphasized the recklessness of Hutchins' actions, stating that there was no justification for her decision to evade law enforcement and ultimately cause the loss of an innocent life.
