Cyclist fatally injured in accident
A man from Crowley has passed away after being involved in a car accident. According to the Crowley Police Department, Ernel Gobert was riding his motorized bicycle and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of S. Avenue O and E. Cedar Street. As a result, he was hit by an oncoming vehicle and tragically died on June 5th, the day of the incident. The driver of the vehicle did not face any charges as it was confirmed by police that Gobert was at fault for disregarding the stop sign. Toxicology tests were conducted as required by law, showing no signs of impairment. Chief Troy Hebert of the Crowley Police Department urges all residents of Crowley to remember that bicyclists must obey traffic laws just like motor vehicle drivers. In light of this accident, it is important for everyone to be extra cautious when watching for pedestrians and bicyclists, as they can be particularly vulnerable. Chief Hebert and the entire police department express their condolences for the loss of Ernel Gobert and extend their thoughts to his loved ones during this difficult time.
