Crash on B-W Parkway leaves young person dead, injures 5 others

An early morning crash Friday involving two vehicles has left a minor dead and injured five other people on Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Laurel.According to the United States Park Police, around 1:40 a.m. officers responded to the area of Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Maryland Route 197 for a two-vehicle crash.Police said that one person, a minor, was pronounced dead at the scene, while another minor was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two other minors and two adults were also taken to the hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway was shut down for most of Friday morning between Maryland Route 197 and Powder Mill Road. The road was finally reopened around 9:30 a.m. but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.This story will be updated.
