Crash in Fort Wayne leaves 1 dead, 1 injured
A fatal collision occurred in the early hours of Friday morning in Fort Wayne, resulting in one person's death and another person being injured following a brief pursuit. The incident took place near Sherborne Boulevard and Stafford Drive, just west of Coliseum Boulevard. The Fort Wayne Police Department reported that an officer observed a vehicle speeding in the vicinity of Lake and Laverne Avenue. After signaling for the vehicle to stop, it attempted to flee, ultimately crashing into a tree after passing State Boulevard. Emergency responders transported both occupants to a local hospital, where one was declared deceased and the other sustained significant injuries. Although the vehicle caught fire post-impact, both individuals had exited the vehicle by that time. The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation.
