Crash closes US 183 near Maha Road, 1 person airlifted to hospital
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Officials said all southbound and northbound lanes on U.S. 183 near Maha Road are closed due to a crash that occurred earlier Wednesday evening. One person was rescued and taken to a hospital by Starflight, according to the Travis County Fire Rescue. The crash was reported around 4:13 p.m. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that its agency responded to the 9800 block of South U.S. 183 near Maha Loop Road and FM 1327. TCSO said a commercial vehicle had crashed and spilled concrete on the roadways. Authorities have not released the condition of the individual who was taken to the hospital. Around 7 p.m., the Mustang Ridge Police Department said lanes are still closed and is not expected to open for two more hours. Traffic is still being diverted to Maha Road.
