Crash closes three eastbound lanes of I-440 near New Bern Avenue exit, Raleigh police say
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A car crash has closed three eastbound lanes along Interstate 440 Thursday evening, according to the Raleigh Police Department. The North Carolina Department of Transportation's real-time traffic map shows the crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday. According to Raleigh police, the crash involved five cars in the eastbound lanes of I-440 at the New Bern Avenue exit. No major injuries have been reported as a result of the crash, police said. Three of the eastbound lanes have been closed, and tow trucks are on their way to the scene to clear the roadway. NCDOT estimated the crash would be cleared by 8:27 p.m., with traffic being heavily impacted until then. Drivers are being advised to find different way to their destinations.
