Court hearing for man involved in Liverpool FC parade car crash injuring 79, including kids
A 53-year-old man named Paul Doyle from West Derby in Liverpool has recently appeared in court concerning a serious incident during Liverpool FC’s trophy parade. This incident involved a car being driven into a crowd of celebrating fans. The event occurred on May 26 while thousands were marking the football club’s Premier League title victory. Doyle faced seven charges in connection to the crash as he appeared in Liverpool Crown Court on May 30 and confirmed his personal details without providing any plea indication. The charges against him include two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and one count of dangerous driving, all involving six victims, including two children. A provisional trial date has been scheduled for November 24, expected to last three to four weeks, and Doyle remains in custody until a further hearing on August 14. The trial preparation continues with many witnesses to be interviewed and extensive CCTV footage to be reviewed. Due to the severity of the incident and to protect the privacy of the victims, reporting restrictions are currently in place. In the car crash incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre on May 26, 79 individuals were confirmed injured, their ages ranging from nine to 78. The court is anticipated to discuss the potential extension of reporting restrictions during an upcoming hearing.
