Court appearance of Albuquerque crash suspect.

The suspect involved in the tragic hit-and-run incident that led to the passing of Alec Montoya, a staff member at the University of New Mexico Hospital, appeared in court for the first time on Friday. As per the legal document, Brian Boyce initially stopped his vehicle after colliding with Montoya and remained at the crash site. Boyce received medical treatment for minor injuries but subsequently left the hospital. Later that evening, he was apprehended at his residence and charged with the offense of fleeing from the accident scene. The authorities suspect that Boyce was driving at a notably high speed and changing lanes at the intersection during the collision with Montoya. The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing. The defense contested the charge of leaving the accident scene, arguing that he fled from the hospital rather than the crash site. Following the hearing, Judge Michelle Castillo Dowler released Boyce from custody due to insufficient current evidence. Boyce is scheduled to appear in court again next month. The statement from the Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office is pending.
