Court appearance for Milwaukee woman after fatal Brady Street crash
A fast-paced chase in a busy area resulted in a tragic accident in Milwaukee last week. A Milwaukee woman, identified as 22-year-old Cera Wilkerson, has been charged with five felonies, including reckless homicide, for causing the fatal crash while evading police on the city's Lower East Side. The incident took place on Tuesday, July 29, when officers attempted to pull over a speeding car near Teutonia and North. Wilkerson, the driver, fled from the scene and ultimately collided with another vehicle on N. Humboldt Avenue and W. Brady Street. The Lyft driver of the second vehicle, El Moctar Sidiya, tragically lost his life in the crash, while his passenger sustained serious injuries. Prosecutors emphasized the extreme danger of high-speed chases, highlighting the reckless driving behavior exhibited by Wilkerson during the pursuit, which resulted in the loss of life and injuries to innocent individuals. Wilkerson's history of traffic violations, including prior speeding and driving with a suspended license, has been brought to attention in court. Following the incident, Wilkerson's bail was set at $250,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on August 11 for a preliminary hearing.
