Couple injured in hit-and-run incident in Gulfport while riding e-scooter: 'Abandoned us injured'

A Bay Area couple's leisurely trip on an electric scooter took a tragic turn when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver on Black Friday. Kristen, 42, and Michael Lynch, 61, were discovered injured at the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard and Luana Lane last Friday evening, as reported by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The couple, who were hit from behind while riding in the curb lane, suffered serious injuries. Kristen, a mother of five, underwent multiple surgeries and is currently in stable condition with various injuries, including a brain bleed and fractured pelvis. Michael, still in critical condition in the ICU, sustained severe injuries including three brain bleeds and multiple pelvis fractures, with his heart stopping for six minutes. The driver of the suspected vehicle, Eugene Sviderskas, has been charged in connection with the incident. A fundraiser has since been set up to assist the Lynch family, which has received an outpouring of support. Kristen expressed gratitude for the help during this difficult time, especially for her children, acknowledging the community's generosity.
