Country singer Conner Smith in deadly truck-pedestrian collision in Nashville
Conner Smith, a rising star in the country music scene who was nominated for new male artist at the last ACM Awards, was reportedly involved in a tragic incident in Nashville on Sunday night, where he allegedly struck a 77-year-old pedestrian who later passed away. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, initial investigations suggest that Smith failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian as she was walking in a marked crosswalk. The police confirmed that Smith did not display any signs of impairment, and while the investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed at this time. The victim, identified as Dorothy Dobbins, resided locally and sadly lost her life at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after the collision. Smith, known for his song "I Hate Alabama" and his rising single "Creek Will Rise," has been building a name for himself in the music industry and has even been a guest on Luke Bryan's Farm Tour, which aims to bring country music to rural areas. Despite the tragic event, Smith's attorney has stated that he is cooperating with the authorities and sends his condolences to Ms. Dobbins' family during this challenging time. Smith is set to perform at the upcoming event opening for Luke Bryan in Florida and has a busy schedule of shows across the country over the summer months.
