Country singer accused in pedestrian accident resulting in one woman's death

Country music singer Conner Smith has been charged with a misdemeanor following a collision that led to the death of a 77-year-old pedestrian in downtown Nashville. The 24-year-old was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way resulting in death, in connection with the incident that occurred on June 8. The victim, Dorothy Dobbins, was struck by Smith's vehicle while crossing a marked crosswalk. Although there was no evidence of impairment or distracted driving, Smith is scheduled to appear for booking on August 7. Smith's attorney expressed gratitude for the thorough investigation by Metro Police and reiterated Smith's commitment to supporting pedestrian safety initiatives. Following the tragedy, improvements such as new crosswalk signs and increased visibility have been implemented at the crash site.
