Coroner summoned following car accident in Cambria County
UPDATE: In Cambria County, Pa., a fatal car accident occurred on Portage Street (Route 53) in Summerhill Township on Sunday morning, July 20. The driver and passenger, whose identities have not been disclosed, were a male and a female respectively. The crash took place around 11:30 a.m. when a pickup truck collided with a telephone pole on the 2800 block of Portage Street. First responders faced significant challenges with the "heavy entrapment" situation as witnesses reported no movement inside the vehicle. Multiple emergency services, including Portage Fire, Beaverdale Fire, and state police, were dispatched to the scene. Due to the crash, a portion of Route 53 remains closed from Wilmore to Portage, with officials warning of an extended closure.
