Coroner reports rare balloon suffocation accident claims life of 6-year-old.

A 6-year-old boy named Gunner Hyatt tragically passed away last month in Mount Carmel, Illinois. According to the Wabash County coroner, the incident involving a balloon was deemed accidental. Authorities responded to the scene on May 29 where the boy was pronounced dead. The coroner's office released initial findings, attributing the cause of death to suffocation due to a Mylar-helium filled balloon, pending a toxicology report. The coroner emphasized the dangers of large Mylar balloons, warning of the risks they pose to children. Gunner had recently completed Kindergarten and is remembered fondly by his family as a loving and energetic child. His family has set up a GoFundMe page to support them during this difficult time. The investigation into his death continues.
