Coroner: 1 dead after multi-vehicle crash in York County

One person is dead after a multi-vehicle crash in Springettsbury Township on Thursday afternoon. According to York County dispatchers, crews received a call at 3:22 p.m. for a crash with entrapment on North Hills Road. Units from York Area Units Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, near East Philadelphia Street, and found a crash involving an unknown number of vehicles. Crews quickly worked to free anyone who was trapped. At least one person was transported to a nearby hospital, but the exact number of patients is still unclear, according to dispatchers. Thursday evening, the York County Coroner announced on social media that its office is responding to York Hospital for a single fatality from the crash. North Hills Road was shut down in the area of the crash, but reopened around 7:15 p.m. The Springettsbury Township Police Department is handling the investigation.
