Construction worker dies in accident on I-26 near Weber Blvd.
A tragic incident occurred last week at a construction site near I-26 eastbound in North Charleston, resulting in the death of a worker. The North Charleston Police Department responded to the scene under the Weber Boulevard overpass on the afternoon of June 16. The victim, identified as John Stowers, 58, from Summerville, was operating a "skid steer" construction vehicle to clear mud from a ditch, when the vehicle accidentally backed up and ran over Stowers. Despite efforts to save him, he passed away at a nearby hospital. The incident is currently being investigated by authorities.
