Consecutive accidents with government vehicles on I-64
Two accidents involving government vehicles occurred within minutes of each other on I-64 on Thursday morning, according to Virginia State Police. The first incident involved a Virginia Department of Transportation Safety Service Patrol vehicle, while the second involved a Virginia State Police car. In the first crash, a VDOT worker was rear-ended while removing debris from the road. Charges were filed against the driver responsible for following too closely. In the second crash, a trailer became detached and caused a chain reaction collision involving several vehicles. The trooper at the scene was also injured but not seriously. Police are investigating the incident and charges are pending.
