Concerns over speeding following fatal crash at Rosser Racetrack

After a tragic crash on Tuesday, concerns about speeding on Rosser Boulevard in Port St. Lucie are being raised with city officials. Following the fatal incident, resident Peter Overhuls expressed worry to WPTV's Tyler Hatfield about the escalating issue on the street, known by some as the 'Rosser Racetrack.' With 280 crashes since 2020, including three fatalities, Overhuls highlighted the excessive speeding as a major problem, urging for traffic calming measures like speed bumps or strips. Despite a speed limit range of 30 to 40 mph on the road, drivers are reportedly driving recklessly, prompting Overhuls to push for action from the city. Residents can take action by requesting a traffic calming study and starting a petition with signatures from 50% of neighbors. Additionally, the Port St. Lucie Police Department mentioned the 1PSL app as a means to lodge traffic complaints, with immediate concerns warranting a direct phone call for prompt police response. Overhuls stressed the urgency of addressing the speed issue, emphasizing the need for swift action before further incidents occur.
