Companions recall senior man in fatal Fort Pierce accident.
The Fort Pierce community is paying tribute to Gary Johns, a 70-year-old man who tragically passed away in a multi-car accident. A memorial site has been set up by his loved ones, adorned with candles, balloons, and posters in his honor. Matrice Andre, a friend of Johns, expressed, “Everybody is gathered here to remember Gary for who he truly was - a kind, loving, and caring person.” The fatal collision occurred at the junction of US Highway 1 and Edwards Road in Fort Pierce, involving seven cars and believed to have been triggered by a medical emergency in another vehicle. Johns' friends, speaking to WPTV's Zitlali Solache, remembered him as a gentle, sweet, and compassionate individual who worked at a local arcade for many years. They shared how Johns always prioritized the well-being of others and made sure everyone felt cared for. Traditionally, they would meet with Johns every Thursday, forming a close bond with him. Kimberly Collins expressed her deep sorrow over his passing and pledged to cherish his memory at the crash site. She and Andre, along with others, plan to regularly come together there to honor and remember him.
