Community in Georgetown County Support Advocate Following Accident

In September, which is National Suicide Prevention Month, a man named Clinton Baker is traveling along the East Coast spreading awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. His mission was inspired by the tragic losses of his son, father, mother, and three brothers in a single year, which led him to attempt suicide. After surviving with the help of medical staff, Baker is now dedicated to advocating for mental health resources and sparking open conversations about suicide. His Suicide Prevention Ride, where he travels with his dog, Medusa, has been well-received. Recently, while passing through Pawleys Island, SC, an accident damaged his cart, but local residents came together to support him. They provided a new cart, offered food, clothing, and monetary help to ensure he can continue his important work. Baker was overwhelmed by the kindness he received from the community and plans to return to Pawleys Island in the future. By sharing his story and journey on his Facebook page, Suicide Prevention Ride, Baker hopes to raise further awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, remember to call 988 for immediate support.
