Community grieves loss of 4-year-old in Burlingame car crash

Family and friends are grieving the tragic loss of a four-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a 19-year-old driver in Burlingame. A memorial of flowers and photographs has been set up on the sidewalk outside a restaurant where the incident took place. The accident occurred on Friday night on Donnelly Avenue near Burlingame Avenue. The driver, a 19-year-old woman from San Mateo, was reversing out of a parking lot across the street when she collided with an e-biker, causing her to accelerate onto the sidewalk and hit the young boy and his six-year-old sister. The driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, is not believed to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. The Burlingame community has come together to pay their respects at the memorial, leaving flowers, notes, pictures, and stuffed animals in memory of the young boy. This heartbreaking incident has deeply affected residents, with one woman expressing sympathy for the family and reflecting on how easily such tragedies can occur. The boy's sister is currently hospitalized for her injuries.
