Colorado State Patrol cruiser and highway worker hit by a hit-and-run crash in Adams County, CSP states
A crash in Adams County early Sunday morning involving six vehicles has left a Colorado Department of Transportation contractor and a state trooper hospitalized. A man, identified as Bryan Granillo, is now in custody, facing multiple charges in relation to the incident. The collision occurred around 2 a.m. on Highway 36 near Pecos Street. Granillo allegedly struck a CSP cruiser from behind, trapping the highway worker, before attempting to flee the scene. Another trooper used a tactical maneuver to apprehend Granillo, who was arrested on the spot and taken to jail in Adams County. The charges against him include DUI, felony eluding, and leaving the crash site. This is not Granillo's first motor vehicle offense as he has other pending cases from recent DUI and reckless driving incidents in Thornton, as well as a driving under restraint charge in Golden. The trooper involved in the crash, Miguel Jeronimo Baez, and the highway worker have been released from the hospital after receiving treatment.
