Collision in Peru leaves 1 dead, 4 injured
A fatal collision occurred in Peru, Indiana, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to four others. The accident took place on Meridian Road near East County Road 500 North, prompting a response from the Peru post of the Indiana State Police, the Miami County Sheriff's Office, and the Peru City Police Department. The crash involved a Chevrolet Blazer attempting to pass another vehicle and colliding with a Chevrolet Equinox. Sadly, 89-year-old Eclista Birner, a passenger in the Equinox, passed away from her injuries at the scene. The driver of the Blazer and another Equinox passenger suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to the hospital, while the other passengers received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital. Authorities have ruled out alcohol or drugs as contributing factors and the investigation is ongoing.
