Collision between car and train in Wapello County, one person flown to hospital
In Wapello County, Iowa, a vehicle collided with a train, resulting in a 57-year-old woman from North Carolina being airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City. The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Monday when a 2004 Buick sedan failed to stop at a railroad crossing on 215th Avenue near Ottumwa and was hit by a passing train. The driver and rear passenger of the car were unharmed, as per the Iowa State Patrol report. The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported by air ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital. No further details have been disclosed at this time.
