Co-owner of Blue Plate passes away in motorcycle accident in Wisconsin

David Burley, a beloved figure and co-owner of Blue Plate restaurants, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon in western Wisconsin. The incident occurred on Interstate 94 in Hudson around 2:45 p.m. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Burley was struck by another driver attempting to overtake traffic, causing a collision with a guard rail and a concrete median barrier. Burley, 58, was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The other driver, 33, from Brooklyn Park, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was found to have consumed alcohol prior to the crash. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Burley, who co-owned restaurants including The Free House, The Lowry, Three Squares Restaurant, and others, was described as a visionary leader and a welcoming presence at Blue Plate. In his memory, all Blue Plate restaurants will be closed on Monday, April 7.
