Clyde baby and mother healing after fireworks incident
A mother from Clyde, Kadynce Knowles, and her 9-month-old daughter, Rose, were recently involved in a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July. Both suffered severe burns in the incident, which occurred during a private gathering in the city. While they have been discharged from the hospital and are now recovering at home, the journey ahead for their physical and emotional well-being will be challenging. Kadynce emphasized the importance of pushing through the pain for her daughter, as they face a long road to recovery. The accident involved a small firework that accidentally tipped over and exploded, causing injuries to both Kadynce and Rose. Kadynce recounted the terrifying moment when she realized they were on fire and the actions taken to extinguish the flames. The injuries sustained included burns to their hands, arms, torso, limbs, and a gash on Rose's leg. The incident led to Kadynce and Rose being treated at Hendrick Medical Center before being transferred to the University Medical Center Burn Unit in Lubbock. Despite facing challenges and nightmares during their hospitalization, Kadynce drew strength from her daughter's resilience and progress while being separated from her. The family's financial situation during this time adds another layer of difficulty, as her husband is their primary provider. Donations to support their recovery can be made through their GoFundMe page.
