
Closure of westbound stretch on I-376 because of car accident
A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 376 westbound resulted in the loss of two lives and injuries to two others on Sunday evening. The incident, which took place between the Grant Street and Second Avenue interchanges, was reported to Allegheny County emergency responders just before 7:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police arrived on the scene to conduct an investigation, revealing that a Chevrolet Silverado was driving in the wrong direction before colliding with a Nissan Frontier. Two men in the Silverado were taken to a nearby hospital, while the Nissan driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Trooper Rocco Gagliardi acknowledged the challenges faced by first responders in such distressing situations and highlighted the support being provided to those affected. Following the clearance of the crash site and reopening of the roadway by 11:45 p.m., the investigation continues with the assistance of specialized units from the Pennsylvania State Police.
