Closure of several lanes on southbound 5 Freeway in San Clemente due to fatal accident
Several lanes on the southbound 5 Freeway in San Clemente are currently unavailable due to a fatal accident that happened on Monday morning. A Sig Alert has been declared for the stretch of the freeway between Basilone Road/Exit 71 and San Onofre Power Plant. KCAL News has also sent out a Next Traffic Alert to caution motorists about the traffic congestion that could disrupt their morning drive. The congestion caused by the road closure is affecting travelers leaving the southern portion of Orange County. The cause of the accident and the estimated time for full lane reopening remain unknown.
