Closure of I-75 in Monroe County due to potential shooting and fatal collision
The Michigan State Police (MSP) are currently investigating a potential shooting and fatal crash on I-75 that occurred on Monday evening. The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. when a Customs and Border Patrol agent stopped to assist a stranded driver on southbound I-75 near Lena Pier and Exit 6. After exchanging information with the driver, the agent returned to his vehicle and heard a gunshot. Subsequently, a man was seen fleeing into the nearby woods, though it is not confirmed if he is the suspected shooter. Tragically, the stranded driver attempted to cross the expressway and was struck by a car, resulting in her death. Authorities are searching for the man while an investigation is ongoing at the scene. Southbound I-75 at Exit 6 has been shut down for the investigation, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
