Closure of I-70 near Denver after semi truck catches fire and collision
I-70 in both directions at Highway 40, East Colfax Avenue near Aurora was shut down on Friday morning due to a semi fire and crash. The Colorado Department of Transportation reported the closure at mile marker 288 just after 8:20 a.m. The incident involved three semis, with one catching fire as a result of the crash. Aurora Police Department is investigating what led to the crash. The Aurora Fire Department managed to extinguish the fire. Drivers were advised to find an alternate route as traffic piled up in both directions on I-70. The exact time of the interstate reopening was uncertain.
