Clinton teen dies in tragic East Feliciana Parish car crash

SLAUGHTER, La. (KLFY) -- A 16-year-old from Clinton died in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening in East Feliciana Parish, officials said. The incident occurred shortly before 5:40 p.m., on La. 958 south of La. 959. Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating the fatal accident. The deceased was identified as Murphy Andes, who was a front seat passenger in a 1997 Toyota 4Runner. The preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling north on La. 958 and approaching a left curve. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right. The driver then overcorrected, causing the Toyota to travel off the roadway to the left, rotate and overturn, officials said. Authorities said the 16-year-old driver, also from Clinton, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples will be collected and submitted for analysis. The deadly crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
