A school bus crash in Portland on Wednesday afternoon resulted in injuries to at least five children, as reported by Sumner County EMS officials. The incident occurred at 2:53 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6. Following the crash, two children were reunited with their parents at a specified location, while four children were taken to nearby hospitals for minor injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, confirming that five students were hurt in the accident. According to the initial report from THP, the bus was stationary in the left lane at a red light at South Broadway Street and East Longview Drive when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck traveling northbound. Amidst the situation, Sumner County deputies, THP, and the Portland Police Department are actively present at the crash site. Further details have yet to be disclosed.
