A child who was critically injured in a three-car crash on July 25 in Brownsville, Texas has passed away, as reported by the Brownsville Police Department. The 5-year-old was involved in the accident that occurred at the intersection of W. University Boulevard and S. Expressway 77/83 at 11 p.m. The police arrested 26-year-old Raul Rodriguez for running a red light at the intersection and causing the collision with two other vehicles. Officers at the scene noted several signs of impairment in Rodriguez, indicating he was intoxicated. Rodriguez was formally charged with three counts of intoxication assault with a motor vehicle, resulting in serious injury, classified as a third-degree felony. He remains in custody with a bond set at $75,000. The situation is currently unfolding.
